LOCAL GUIDE / VEHICLE LOCATION

Find the car. Describe the place.

Around the Square, parks and stations, a familiar place name can still leave several possible entrances.

The historic DeKalb County Courthouse in Decatur, Georgia.

Start with the vehicle and key situation.

Before working through the location, identify the vehicle year, make and model. Explain whether the key is inside, missing, damaged or present but not working. If you still have a usable spare, mention it.

These details separate an automotive access inquiry from a replacement-key request. A precise location does not by itself establish key compatibility or the scope of the work.

A Square landmark is not a deck entrance.

A car described as being “by the Courthouse” may be on a street, in a public deck or on private parking property. Give the garage name, entrance street and level when known. A pedestrian exit onto the Square can differ from the vehicle entrance.

The Square reopened after renovation in June 2026, and the city’s tourism organization also describes later work around the North McDonough loop. Do not rely on an old photo or a permanent assumption about an open route. Check current signs and access instructions without leaving a safe location just to investigate.

  • Garage/lot name or street
  • Vehicle entrance if known
  • Level and nearby bay/marker
  • Any controlled-access arrangements

Decatur station does not have station parking.

MARTA’s parking table lists neither daily nor long-term parking at Decatur station. Avondale and East Lake are separate stations that do have parking. A vehicle said to be “at Decatur MARTA” therefore needs a more precise description.

Check the station name or the nearby deck/lot name. Do not assume that being close to a station means the car is on MARTA property, and do not assume private-property access is included in a service request.

At a park, identify the side.

The city’s pavilion information distinguishes lower parking at McKoy Park off McKoy Street from upper parking off Adams Street. Oakhurst Park references Feld Avenue and Third Avenue. These are useful examples of why the park name alone may not identify the car.

Say which street or entrance you used and where the vehicle stands in relation to it. A trail or pavilion landmark can help orient the conversation, but it should accompany the actual parking location. Permission and vehicle authorization still need to be addressed.

Safety, authorization and the next question.

Stay somewhere safe while collecting the information. For immediate danger to a person or animal, contact emergency services rather than relying on a routine service inquiry. Do not move into traffic or attempt a hazardous entry method to check the keys.

For an ordinary lockout request, be ready to explain your authority to access the vehicle, private deck or site restrictions, and what you know about the key. Call LockReach to confirm actual availability, proposed work and the estimate.
